(28th June 2022) In response to the announcement that the HSE Chief Executive Paul Reid is stepping down from his position later this year, the ICGP’s President Dr Paul Armstrong said:

“The HSE’s CEO Paul Reid’s decision to step down from his role later this year is a significant one for the HSE, and for the Irish health service.”

He added “ Mr Reid brought strong leadership skills to the HSE,  and was an important communicator on behalf of the HSE during the COVID-19 pandemic. He has always been very supportive of General Practice and the ICGP representatives experienced his proactive approach to general practice, particularly during the years of the pandemic and he was also instrumental in enabling the final transfer of GP training from the HSE to the College in October 2021.”

“We wish him well for the future.”
