The College in conjunction with the IMO are engaging with the HSE to ensure all GPs and their staff will be vaccinated over the next 6 – 8 weeks.
GPs will be providing vaccines later in the process and they will only be able to do so if vaccinated themselves (and their staff).
Also, there is absolute necessity for general practice to remain open and again it is recognised that GPs must be vaccinated to ensure this is the case.
The HSE have developed a Vaccination Registration Portal and there are some difficulties with the roll out of the Portal and the HSE have confirmed this is being resolved at present.
We understand the level of concern among our members and their practice staff and together with the IMO the College is advocating strongly with the HSE, DOH and the Minister to have the vaccination programme for GPs and their staff operational as a matter of urgency.
As soon as we have further information available, this will be advised to members immediately.
