The Board of the Irish College of General Practitioners welcomed the CEO of the HSE, Mr Paul Reid, today (Saturday January 18th 2020) at its scheduled January meeting.

This is the first time the CEO of the HSE has met with the Board of the College. The Chairman Dr John Cox, and the President Dr Mary Favier welcomed Mr Reid’s attendance as a good opportunity to deepen the understanding of the role of general practice in the delivery of healthcare services.

The discussion addressed the ICGP’s areas of concern for general practice, including GP workload and workforce planning for the expansion of community-based care, GP Training, timely access to diagnostic services for public patients in the community, and GPs’ relationship with hospitals.
