Masks are better than visors, and if you cannot wear a mask you should not be using public transport, says Dr Nuala O’Connor, COVID lead for the ICGP speaking on RTÉ Radio One News at One.

Face coverings are the best way for the public to protect themselves, and to protect others, she says.

“I understand there are some situations where people really feel that they are very uncomfortable wearing them, but the question I would put to them then is should you really be going on public transport? If you can’t wear what is recommended to protect you and protect others maybe it’s best to rethink your form of transport.

“Anyone feeling unwell shouldn’t be at work, they should stay at home and not interact with people.”
